  • Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Torontonian 1 (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
The National Ballet of Canada is the primary tenant in the opera house. The primary occupant is the Canadian Opera Company, which owns the building called the Four Seasons Centre (for the foreseeable future).

According to Wikipedia, Dufferin (sic) Grove is: "bordered by Bloor Street West to the north, Ossington Ave to the east, College Street to the south, and Dufferin Street to the west." This map section title is thus incorrect. The area in question is considerably to the west of what is shown.

  • Sobeys, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Specifically, "Sobeys Urban Fresh": smaller than a typical grocery store, with an emphasis on deli and produce. It's pretty nice, check it out sometime.
  • Dorset Park, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Also the namesake of its neighbourhood, bordered by Ellesmere, Kennedy, Lawrence and Birchmount.
  • Finch Leslie Square, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Many Chinese live in this area, but this is one of few Chinese malls there; there are tons more Chinese malls east of here in Agincourt.
  • Oriental Food Mart, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Formerly Miracle Food Mart (oddly enough)
  • Rogers Centre (SkyDome), KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
I agree with NikkiB. SkyDome is still its unofficial name.
  • old Steeles Avenue, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
IIRC, this road and the section of the old Albion Road are now called Codlin Crescent.
  • Molson Brewery, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Formerly Carling O'Keefe brewery (hence the street name "Carlingview Drive")
  • Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
It's called the Ted Rogers School of Management... and as a Ryerson student, I found it extremely difficult to navigate when one of my classes was relocated here. I'm more comfortable with it now though.
  • Hudson's Bay, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
HBC's acquisition of Simpsons didn't result in the discontinuation of the Simpsons brand, just the end of the Simpsons-Sears partnership. HBC didn't rebrand its Simpsons stores into The Bay until 1991. This particular store doubled as the set for the 80s TVO children's series "Today's Special."
  • Cineplex Cinemas Fairview Mall, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
I find it interesting that Cineplex closed this theatre down in 2001, only to reopen it seven years later (it didn't reopen until December 2008 and is now under the SilverCity banner).
  • Hudson's Bay (closing), KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Opened in 1962. For many, many years, it was the home of a nonfunctioning escalator from the rooftop parking lot.
  • Soon Lee Supermarket, Tim Hortons, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
There was a Beer Store where Soon Lee Supermarket was until about 1995 or 1996. According to MapArt, it's still there (at least as of their 2008 edition).
  • No Frills, KennedyParkGuy (guest) wrote 15 years ago:
Formerly a Towers Department Store; was seen as such in two 1987 episodes of "Degrassi Junior High".
