  • Yonge & Eligible strip of singles bars, restaurants and condos, Craig (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
"singles bars" - hogwash. It's merely a play on words that MIGHT have been accurate 15 years ago. I've been here 10 years and it's never matched the play on words. All the clubs are gone except one. Tons of families in the apartment complexes nowdays. I would never use the term "Yuppy" to describe the inhabitants. Perhaps yuppies own the semi-detached houses in the surrounding residential neighbourhoods. (Don't get me wrong - it is a very nice place. It's just the description above that is WAY out of date and flat out wrong.)

Actually, the retailers are better referred to as the Five Thieves. There is also a fish monger (Pieces) and a Charcuterie that also reflect the high local market prices.

Great place for a coffee and to catch some sun on the patio chairs. You can sometimes bump into Gord Downey since he's moved into the area.
