It's called a labyrinth by many people to distinguish it from a maze. A maze has dead ends and forks in the road and is basically a puzzle to entertain the left brain. A labyrinth like the one in High Park has the opposite purpose. Its purpose is to still the thinking mind (the left brain), to quiet the incessant mind chatter of the left brain in order to give one the chance to dwell in the right brain where creativity, art, music, dance, insight and wisdom reside.
